Storage Turned Exercise Room

While I’ve been cleaning out the house I’ve realized I haven’t shown any of the rooms in our basement. We’ve done some changes to some of the rooms down there.

We used to have two storage rooms. We decided some time ago that we could do with just one and turn the other one into an exercise room. These pictures show what the room looked like once we removed all the storage items and most of the shelves.

After we cleaned it out, we sprayed the walls with paint that was left from a previous owner. At Lowe’s we found a big remnant of linoleum that was inexpensive. The only problem was that it was a little smaller than the room. So, we bought some individual peel and stick flooring that we put around the perimeter of the room.

There was more things we were going to do to the room. We were going to glue trim around the edge, put up mirrors, mount a TV holder to the wall, and do something different with the windows. But, now we won’t be finishing those projects. This is what the room looked like before we started to empty it.

I did the third picture so you could see just how low the dropped ceiling is. It works for Scott and I because we’re both pretty short. Anyone taller would have a hard time running on the treadmill!

And yes, we have two total gyms. My husband says it is necessary even though it makes it more cramped. We’ll see if both of them make it to the new house.

Tomorrow I will show you my craft room. Unfortunately I don’t really have ‘after’ pictures. Anne and I started packing up that room before I thought to take them. But I will dig through my external hard drive and see what I can come up with. Maybe I will contact our realtor. He did take pictures of the house even though he didn’t use them because it sold so fast. It’s a possibility he still has them. Worth checking into.

Thanks for looking!
