Eye Opening

This is a Christmas present I received last year. I blogged about it here.
I was having a lot of fun with it recently. I'm not sure I realized before now that the top half of the lens screws off. What is left is actually the macro lens. With the top half attached it is the wide angle lens.
Here is my phone camera regularly.

And here is the same shot with the wide angle lens attached to my phone camera.

But this is what has been the most fun. I took close ups of each family member's eye.

The detail is amazing. It was really hard to get a picture focused on the eye and not the eyelashes.
I took a picture of my ring but accidently deleted it. I'm sure I will be playing with this lens a lot more in the future!

What eye belongs to who? Take a guess. Each belongs to a member of my family. Scott, Ethan, Cole, Noah, Jayce and I.

Here's a clue- I wish I had lashes like my boys'!

Happy Friday

I had a Friday that was well spent. I ran some errands and got the house picked up. Now I'm ready to enjoy a delicious cuppa tea with a beautiful book on a wonderful Friday night.
Have a great weekend!

Excuse the Absence

Sorry for the lack of posts. I've been feeling like this lately.

I feel drowsy and lethargic (not like I have a dog's behind in my face).

I don't think I'm sick. I just have no motivation.
Although, when I bend over it feels like someone is poking sharp icicles into my brain, so something must be going on with my sinuses.

I'm still here. And I promise to bring more uplifting posts in the future.

Mind over matter, right? I just need to choose JOY.

1920s Headpiece

My hubby's Christmas work party is a Murder Mystery set in the 1920s.

I was determined not to spend a lot of money on costumes- mostly because we don't have it.

My character's name is Silky M. Adam because of the elegant silk gowns I wear to The Everlay Club that I own and operate.

After two trips to Goodwill I found the perfect dress. More on that in another post.

I have been researching by looking at old photos on Google. I went to Michaels to get supplies to make a headpiece. When I got home and searched my supplies I discovered I could make an adequate 1920s headpiece from what I had in my craft room already. Here are some of my inspiration photos. Although I couldn't find the main picture I used as inspiration for my headpiece.

I found some black and silver ribbon. I also had a silver decorative looped piece that was in a bin of things from an estate sale.

I measured the ribbon to fit around my head and cut it a little shorter. Then I hot glued the ends around a hair stretchy. I hot glued the silver ribbon along the top of the black ribbon.

I cut out a square of black fabric and used fusible interfacing to make it stronger. After ironing it together I cut it down and rounded the corners.

I used this as my base. I cut a bigger square from a black lining fabric and formed it into a flower and sewed it on top of the base. Then I sewed the silver decorative piece across the satin flower.

I had a baby food jar filled with antique buttons that I got from an estate sale.

I sewed those into place around the silver thread.

I used the previous silver ribbon and made two loops that I hot glued in place.

The big string of pearls is the only thing I purchased to make this headpiece. $.99
I attached the pearls by sewing them in place behind the silver design.

I decided to add another string of pearls that I had on hand and sewed them in place behind the base.

I hot glued and sewed the base onto the ribbon. I also hot glued little silver beads onto the black fabric to add a little more glitter.

I found the perfect shoes for $3 at Goodwill.

They are ugly, but perfect for the era.

I can't wait to show you the entire outfit. I think I'm a little too excited about it all.
I need to find a sharkskin suit for my lawyer husband. If anyone spots one let me know!

Time Flies

I was going through some old pictures today and was amazed.

Time goes by so fast.

You hear it all the time but it doesn't ever really hit me how true it is.

It slapped me in the face today.

Time flies.

Those senior pictures I posted of my nephew recently....

....he used to look like this.

And now this.

Same with my other nephew. From this...

....to this.

Unbelievable.

I've already seen this...

...turn into this.

I don't even want to think about senior pictures for him yet.

This reminds me- I need to get pictures of the boys done...and soon! The weather is supposed to be a little warmer this weekend. It might be my only chance.
