Project List

These are the things I am hoping to accomplish in the coming weekend and next week. They have been on my mind (aka stressing me out) for awhile and it's time to get them done.

1. Figure out our fridge situation. I need a fridge IN the house.

2. Do paint touch-ups on trim and doors.
This is from moving the fridge (that doesn't work) into the house.

This is from moving furniture into our house.

This is from us being dumb and not taping off door trim when staining upstairs. We learned our lesson downstairs.

And lots more everywhere

3. I need to paint the closet doors and bedroom doors upstairs.
One of my boys asked me the other day why we had to leave the tape on the handles. Ha!

Main floor bedroom is
holding all the closet doors waiting for paint.

4. I need to wash all the windows to get rid of paint remnants. They are pretty cloudy right now.

5. I need to put trim down just about everywhere.

6. I need to finish installing the utility sink in the kitchen. I went and bought the tubing required to hook up the water supply and put the faucet in and hooked everything up.

Now I need to buy the proper drain pipes so I can hook it up and start using it.

7. I need to hang the mirror up in the bathroom.

There is lots of other things that need to be done. But these are my priority items. I'm sure I won't get them all finished, but I will try.

We are hosting a birthday party in nine days. This is my deadline.

Anyone else need deadlines to get motivated to get things done?

Newborn Pictures

I was able to do my nephew's newborn pictures when he was less than a week old. The session went pretty good. He was awake pretty much the whole time so we weren't able to get some of those sleeping baby poses, but they are still adorable.

I've been sick and haven't been able to hold him in a week :(

Thanks for looking!

Restore Score

My husband and I made a quick trip to Habitat for Humanity's Restore yesterday. We found a utility sink in decent condition for a great price.

Now I can have a temporary sink in my kitchen! (as soon as I get the tools and tubes needed to hook it up)

I already got an inexpensive faucet.

My husband found a pair of chairs. He thought they were soooo comfortable and told me to sit in them. They definitely aren't what I'm attracted to when looking for a chair, but they were nice. He told me how much he hated my orange pair of chairs that were currently in our front room. He said they were ugly and gross. So I caved.

What is nice is the chairs are slip-covered. $50 for the pair.
I washed the slip-covers as soon as we got home.

I am liking them more and more.

And they are definitely more comfortable!

It's a little more like home everyday.

Great Weekend

Did any of you notice the beautiful frost covering everything this morning?

It was a very scenic drive to school this morning.

We had a fantastic weekend.
We visited with family. We had a great stay at the hotel.

I even got to hit up the Goodwill in the area we were in. First thrift store in a loooooong time!

I didn't buy either of those things. But I thought about it. I did buy a cute little top that I will snap a picture of this week and post.

Today is one of those days I can feel spring around the corner. But I know more snow is in the forecast unfortunately.

Happy Monday to all of you!

Ten Updates

1. Tonight was a first for me- A Pioneer Woman Party. Some ladies from my church got together and each brought a dish from Pioneer Woman's website or cookbook. It was so fun and so very delicious!

This was excluding dessert.

2. We are headed up north for the weekend! Can't wait to see (almost all) my family!

3. We finished the trim in the hallway upstairs. It is not perfect. It still needs to be caulked. Now to do the rest of the house.

4. I ordered a part of our kitchen cabinets. I will give more details next week. I can't wait for them to get here!

5. My dogs are ready for spring. I gave them both haircuts. They look like they lost five pounds each.

6. I am going to re-read the book Eat To Live. I need to get back on track health-wise.

7. I completed all the laundry today. Not only did I wash it but I folded and put it away- a rarity. (Put away in the sense I put the clothes in the corresponding boys' rooms since we have no dressers moved in yet:)

8. We found and fixed the problem that was causing water to leak into our basement. Thanks Brian! Another easy and inexpensive solution. The shower wall needed to be re-caulked where it met the tub. It had been leaking there.

9. We still haven't done anything about our broken new-to-us fridge. It is still sitting in our kitchen unplugged and being used as a cupboard.

10. Our family is doing better. We have almost recovered from the plague that entered our home earlier this week. Thank you for the well wishes!

Have a great weekend!

My Dream Home

I follow a blog called Hooked on Houses. You can find it here.
If you are as crazy about houses as me, you will love her blog. She features houses from different movies, celebrity houses, and beautiful homes around the world.

Today I was drooling on my keyboard over her latest post.

This would be my ideal dream home. I love everything about it. I always knew I was attracted to a kind of European style. But I didn't know it was particularly French. Whatever it is, this house is it. I'm in love.

See for yourself.

This is a new home made to look like an old country French cottage by Barnes Vanze Architects, Inc. You can find more details in their portfolio on Houzz here.

Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.
It has definitely inspired me! Herringbone brick flooring....hmm....that is a good idea for our entry and laundry room!

Two Year Old Niece

We aren't feeling too good around here. That bug going around has finally caught up with us. Just in time for our trip up north this weekend. :/

On a better note- Here are some pictures I took of my niece at her two year birthday party.
She wasn't sure about everyone singing to her or blowing out her candles.

It was a great party!

Coming soon- Nephew Newborn Pictures!
