Thrift Store Painting Makeover

This painting has been with me for quite some time.

I think I've had it for a few years. We were living in our old house when I bought it. $4. That is how much I paid for it. It sat in the basement waiting for my vision for it to become clear. It took a little while.

I need art for my living room. So this painting came to mind. At one time I thought I wanted to make it into a chalkboard. But I already have my chalkboard made.

I also thought about making a deer stencil or sketch and painting it. Something similar to this-

Even though it is really trendy right now, deer have no significance in my life. My husband isn't a hunter and neither is anyone in my family. So that didn't seem a good fit.

I wanted something that was personal. Something that brought joy but was a challenge also.

A Bible verse.

Since the artwork is a water scene I thought about a corresponding verse. But in the end I went with Proverbs 4:23.

Now, don't go thinking that I am super creative because this was copied from Pinterest. I drew it on with chalk first and then white paint.

I'm excited to hang it up. It is going above the couch. Now I just need to figure out what to do about the air intake vent on that wall!

There's got to be a way to make it less noticeable.

What do you think?
